As an artist, Kirimatsu favors a semi-realism style accomplished utilizing the Paintool SAI software. She offers a five-phased process in her illustrations: rough sketch, line art, base color, rendered, and textured.
Price ranges [3/5]:
$70.00 is in the upper echelons for a portrait commission, coupled with the additional requirement of $60.00 for the full-body composition; however, given more time for a further fleshed-out portfolio, this could be acceptable.
For now, though, I would discuss bringing it down to $50.00 for portrait, with an additional requirement of $50.00 for full-body, upping the midbody to $25.00, lowering the Copywrite to $40, adding Background for $20.00 and Another Person(s) to Artwork for $35.
Communication [3/5]:
Kirimatsu mostly responded with simple clarification requests such as: "looks like this?", "Like this?" She didn't respond to me beyond these smaller messages; however, she did thank me for my clarifications on revisions and told me about the resolutions and file types of the finished work.
Accuracy [3/5]:
I provided Kirimatsu with a previous artist's turnarounds of the characters in question, which offered her a full view of them from all angles. So I cannot speak on this artist's abilities for those who commission them with fewer resources at their disposal.
I did, however, request a pose in which I only had a smaller sample base, with which she met my expectations in Accuracy. So I can say with confidence that she can provide unique arrangements for your cast.
The potential drawback I can see with her work is the level of work the commissioner might need to provide her to iron out the details of said work. In my case, I am familiar with photoshop; thus, I could offer her example sketches based upon the changes I needed.
In the end, I'll still need to iron out a few of the details within the project files myself; however, I am still pleased with the amount of work she put into it during the small amount of time she set for herself to accomplish the task.
Quality [4/5]:
The aforementioned five-phased process that I had touched upon pushes her work into a higher range of quality than a few of the other artists I have worked with over the two years that I have been commissioning work from Sketchmob.
I hired her for this ability alone, and she didn't disappoint. If not for the accuracy score, I would have pushed this into a perfect score.
I do not know how Kirimatsu would handle male characters, however, so I cannot attest to anything beyond the female gender; nevertheless, I feel the quality warrants such a project in the future.
